Christmas Vacation

The girls had a full two weeks off of school for Christmas break and Kyle was able to take a few extra days off as well. We wanted to make sure that we did a few fun things during this time.

We spent one day with Auntie Kim, Elias, and Malachi decorating Christmas cookies. They had fun cutting out the cookies and then only wanted to decorate a few of them before they were ready to just play together!

Kelsey V. (one of Kim's friends) came over too and helped with the cookie making!

We spent another day at the Greater Vancouver Zoo. It's only about 45 minutes away and for Christmas this year, Auntie Sarah and Uncle Jon gave us a year long membership pass. It was sunny but cold so there weren't very many other people there! We had a quick visit with Santa and then walked around to see some of the animals. We are excited to go back when it isn't so cold! The poor Caribbean Flamingos were all huddled in a group and the giraffes were inside so we didn't get to see them!
Lydia didn't even want to get close to Santa!
Lions

We were amazed at how close to them we could get!

We spent some time at home, as well, just playing with our new toys and games and finding places to put them all! We also spent a short amount of time playing in the snow before it turned to freezing rain!

Drinking hot chocolate!
We had an abundance of presents that were shipped to us from all of our non-local family...we opened several of them on Christmas Eve and the rest Christmas morning, after eating homemade cinnamon rolls and freshly squeezed orange juice! So delicious!!

In the afternoon, we headed to the Matsqui Recreation Center in Abbotsford for some swimming. They have a fun wave pool, lots of pool noodles and floats and a small area that is perfect for our little munchkins who don't know how to swim!
At the pool, all in their matching outfits!
