Harvest Festival

To help bring in the fall season, we went to the Burlington Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Pitch yesterday. The weather was predicted to be cool and rainy, so we went early hoping to beat the rain. Thankfully, there were only a few raindrops and the sun even came out for a bit!

This was a free event at Skagit River Park put on by the city of Burlington and they had a ton of activities for the kids to do. We started by making zucchini cars, then headed to the bounce house, followed by the inflatable slide. The kids also did a little train ride and had their faces painted. Unfortunately, the lines were too long for the pony rides. There were various booths set up by local businesses and each booth had an activity of some sort; we didn't do too many of these but the kids enjoyed the ones we did!

We decided to grab lunch from one of the local vendors and were able to watch some of the 'pumpkin pitch' part of the event. They had several catapults set up at one end of a field and were 'pitching' pumpkins down the field. It was amazing how far some of them flew!
It was a bit chilly waiting for lunch!

Watching the pumpkin pitch

Hard to tell...but at the end of the field were the catapults...
and somewhere in the air is a pumpkin!
