It's Christmastime!

We started getting ready for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving. Sunday after church we headed to Manthey's Tree Farm to pick out the perfect tree. Our timing wasn't quite right because as soon as we arrived it started to rain and Lydia decided it was time to eat. I don't think we've ever picked out a tree so quickly! In fact, I'm pretty sure it took longer to get everyone out of the car and ready to go than it did to pick out the tree, cut it down and get it into the truck!

Before we left home, Kyle and I were talking about having cash to pay for the tree. Annaliese chimed in and said, "I have money. Use my money." She had been given three $5 bills for her birthday and was so excited to use her birthday money to help pay for the Christmas tree! I gave her one of the bills and she kept it until it was time to pay and then she and Kyle went to the counter together and she was able to give her money to the lady to buy the tree. It was so precious to see how excited she was to be able to help!

We've also done a bit of crafting and creating to get in the Christmas Spirit. I decided I wanted to make Christmas stockings so my mom and I spent some time picking out fabric and figuring out what I wanted them to look like. I still need to finish one of them, but the rest turned out really cute! We also spent an afternoon with Kim and Elias decorating gingerbread houses and another afternoon making Christmas cookies.
Several of the completed stockings!

Very focused!

Lydia and Malachi were pretty cute together!

The early stages of cookie decorating...as it progressed, it turned into a science experiment on mixing colors and most of the turned into a dark brownish/black color!

There is a well-known Christmas lights display called "The Lights of Christmas" which has over 1 million Christmas lights set up, as well as fun activities like a maze, pony rides, and pictures with Santa. On our way home from Seattle one weekend, we decided to check it out. It was really cold outside but well worth it! The pictures don't do the lights justice!

(Haleigh didn't want anything to do with Santa...)

Annaliese had a Christmas concert at school; they were all asked to wear their "Sunday best." The concert was on Thursday morning which isn't a day that Annaliese usually has school so her class was invited to join the P3 class to sing Feliz Navidad and Cascabel (Jingle Bells.)
Elias is in the P3 class...they were pretty excited to be able to sing together!
