August

It's hard to believe that today is the last day of August and also the last day of summer vacation. Kyle and I were laying in bed last night talking about how quickly the summer went and also how good of a summer it was. Despite all things Covid related, we had a lot of fun! We spent a lot of time bike-riding, playing with cousins, and hanging out outside! We bought a house mid-August so the past few weeks have been spent working on it (more on that in a different post) but otherwise, things haven't really felt too different. That being said, we are also very ready for school to start tomorrow and to settle into a bit of a new routine.

Kyle and I were able to get away for a weekend to celebrate our 11th anniversary. We stayed at a friends house out on Whidbey Island and spent time staring at the ocean, watching porpoises, hiking, talking about the new house, and relaxing.

Playing cards and staring at the ocean!

Hiking around Fort Ebay State Park

Watching the sunset...Happy Anniversary!
When we came home, the girls surprised us with an anniversary dinner served out in the garden. They invited us to the Bellingham Hillside Restaurant and served the chef's special (steak, salad and grilled veggies.) They took our order, refilled our drinks, and cleared our dishes when we were all done. They even had music playing at our table!

The girls and Grandpa and Grandma ate outside too...and enjoyed the same tasty food!

Here's a glimpse at some of the other pictures from the month:

Annaliese planned a family picnic at Lake Padden, complete with biking, stand-up paddleboarding, and grilled hamburgers!

I have no idea where this is...but it looks like this little crew of bikers found a blackberry patch!

Trying out the new pump track in Lynden.

We made it up to Mt. Baker once this summer for a short hike to Bagley Lakes. It was a beautiful day and there were a lot of other people who had the same idea as we did!
