More Mother's Day Activities

I realized that I wrote a post all about Mother's Day weekend and how much fun it was...and most of it was spent without my kids! That just doesn't seem quite right:) They really are fantastic kiddos and I love them so much!

Both Haleigh and Annaliese's classes had Mother's Day activities last week at school. I wasn't able to get off work to make it to Haleigh's, but Grandma filled in for me.

Each of the kids in Annaliese's class wrote a little poem and they each took turns reading them in front of the class. They sang a few songs and served us some refreshments. It was so cute to see them all excited to have their Mom's in class!

And then there's this little cutie...

These little ladies are full of energy and smiles; they fill our house with talking and singing; they leave clothes, shoes, and ponytail holders all over the place; they love reading and playing at the park. They love one another and playing together...until they don't! It is both a blessing and a challenge to raise them to be the girls God made them to be!

Mother's Day Weekend

Thankfully, I had all of Mother's Day Weekend off work and it was such a wonderful weekend!

It started with a last-minute get-together with my friend Jen for her birthday; she had a few people over for cake, wine, and some kid-free catching up! I haven't seen her in a while so it was a great way to get the weekend started. Plus, the weather was perfect and we were able to sit outside on their patio...with a beautiful sunset and amazing views of the mountains! Can't get much better than that.

Saturday morning we dropped the kids off at Grandpa and Grandma's house and headed to the ferry for a whale watching trip with Kim, Thane, Ben, and Kelsey. For Christmas, we were all given money for a date night together and Grandpa and Grandma would keep the kids for a sleepover. It took us this long to figure out a date that would work for everyone! Our ferry left from Bellingham and headed over to Friday Harbor. We had an hour or so to roam around town, before getting back on the boat for a tasty lunch of salmon, BBQ chicken, wild rice, coleslaw, and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. We headed out to where the whales were and spent some time watching two humpback whales, Heather and Raptor. These two whales weigh about 45 tons each!

Once we arrived back in Bellingham, we headed out for dinner at a local sushi restaurant, ran a few errands and headed home. It's amazing how easy it is to do those things without kids to buckle in and out of car seats at each stop!
Sunday morning, we all met up at Grandpa and Grandma's house. It sounds like they all had a great time! There was lots of play time outside, some hot tubbing, a trip to Menchie's for frozen yogurt, and a 'build-your-own-castle' craft with sugar cubes! They 'camped' in the tent in the living room and everyone was happy and smiling when we showed up in the morning. We made waffles, mimosas, and lattes for breakfast and then headed home to let Grandpa and Grandma have a little peace and quiet!

We spent the rest of our afternoon around the house, cleaning up the yard, planting the garden and taking a walk. It was a perfect weekend!

April...Part 2

As I was looking back at our pictures, I realized that we have actually done quite a few fun things this past month...so I divided it up into two different blog posts.

Last weekend, the Lynden Library had an event called "Dia de los Libros" where they celebrate the Spanish language and Latino culture. There were art tables, a scavenger hunt, story time, and a 'make your own tortillas' station. Quite a few of Annaliese's classmates were able to go and several of them even read a book in Spanish during the story time! Annaliese was super excited to participate!

Kyle turned 36 on the 28th! We celebrated his birthday by getting a couple's massage and going out on a date! On Sunday, we met up with Kim and Kelsey and went for a hike to Clayton Beach. After we got back home, the girls gave him their present (a marble run...they knew exactly what they wanted to get him and were so excited to pick it out!) and we made gluten-free, dairy-free, brownies!

And then there are always the other random pictures I find as I look back...
