October Wrap-up

Wow...I can't believe it's already the end of October! I don't know where the time has gone! It feels like things have been busier than normal, yet I didn't find much to blog about either!

Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks:

Lydia checking out Annaliese's story cards

Annaliese's artwork!

Haleigh's class took a field trip to the apple orchard
Each student picked three huge, delicious apples...this is what we did with ours!

We've spent a lot of time doing puzzles recently!

Making cookies for Bible Study

We made a quick trip to the zoo in Seattle (and it wasn't quick...there was a ton of traffic!!) And I developed a mild migraine on the way so I didn't take many pictures.

Too tired to eat her snack!

Don't be fooled...she still isn't crawling! She much prefers to scoot around on her butt!

Making our own microwave popcorn...maybe I put too many kernels in...but it tasted good!

Pumpkin Carving

Two weeks ago Kim, Kelsey, and I decided to have a bit of a crafting day at Kim's house. Kim has been working on a few different projects, Kelsey does a lot of sewing and I have been trying to get Haleigh's "First Year" photo album done for quite some time. (My goal was to finish it before Lydia was born...and then while I was on maternity leave...and now I have no time frame!)

I took the girls with me to play while Kyle met up with a friend in Lynden to play racquetball. After he was done, he picked up Haleigh and Lydia and brought them home for their afternoon nap, which also meant that I was able to focus on my craft project with a lot fewer interruptions while Elias, Annaliese, and Mallory played together.

In the evening, Kyle came back with the girls, Ben joined us, and my parents stopped by on their way home from Canada and we all had dinner together followed by some pumpkin carving. Annaliese had picked a pumpkin on her class field trip and had asked me multiple times if she could 'cut it and put a light in it.'

The guys cleaning out the pumpkins for us!

Haleigh drew a face on her's so I would know where to carve it!

Annaliese asked for a flower

Kelsey carved a unicorn on Mallory's, Elias has a dinosaur, Haleigh has the smiley face and Annaliese's flower!

Harvest Festival

To help bring in the fall season, we went to the Burlington Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Pitch yesterday. The weather was predicted to be cool and rainy, so we went early hoping to beat the rain. Thankfully, there were only a few raindrops and the sun even came out for a bit!

This was a free event at Skagit River Park put on by the city of Burlington and they had a ton of activities for the kids to do. We started by making zucchini cars, then headed to the bounce house, followed by the inflatable slide. The kids also did a little train ride and had their faces painted. Unfortunately, the lines were too long for the pony rides. There were various booths set up by local businesses and each booth had an activity of some sort; we didn't do too many of these but the kids enjoyed the ones we did!

We decided to grab lunch from one of the local vendors and were able to watch some of the 'pumpkin pitch' part of the event. They had several catapults set up at one end of a field and were 'pitching' pumpkins down the field. It was amazing how far some of them flew!
It was a bit chilly waiting for lunch!

Watching the pumpkin pitch

Hard to tell...but at the end of the field were the catapults...
and somewhere in the air is a pumpkin!
