April

April was filled with all of the normal activities that we do every week (like piano lessons, gymnastics, Taekwondo and soccer) but we added in a few fun school activities as well!

Lydia and Haleigh had Creative Arts Week at school. The theme was Little House on the Prairie, so the week was filled with activities related to life as a pioneer. There were fun crafts, two dress-up days, a trip to the Lynden Heritage Museum, a horse-drawn carriage ride to the bus barn for a pioneer lunch, and even a few donkeys showed up at Chapel!

I was able to go with Haleigh's class to the museum and I was so impressed. We learned all about this area and about logging, dairies, and life at home. The basement of the museum is full of an old carriage collection, and we saw different carriages, a few old cars, and a few John Deere tractors from the early days of farming in Lynden!

Learned how to saw this log in half!

While they were busy with Creative Arts Week, Annaliese was busy putting together her project for the science fair. She had to come up with an experiment, test out her hypothesis, and put together a display board explaining it all.

We also fit in a final quizzing get-together, a date night, soccer games, a birthday lunch for Kyle, and a few other random pictures that I found on my camera!

Happy Birthday!!

And with that, April is over, and we're moving on to May. It's hard to believe how close we are to the end of the school year. As I write this, Annaliese is off at 6th grade Outdoor Ed Camp, which she has been looking forward to all year. I helped serve lunch up at the camp today and everyone looked like they were having a great time!

Haleigh headed over to the middle school today to learn all about band (and orchestra.) She's already made up her mind about what instrument she wants to play next year and has been looking forward to meeting the band teacher!
