The Fair

Every summer, the Northwest Washington Fair comes to Lynden. Except for last year of course. But it's back this year and we live about 1 mile away...which means we can occasionally hear the music! Our schedules made it a bit challenging for everyone to go, but Kyle was able to take the girls on Sunday afternoon for a few hours. (I had to work all weekend so I was home sleeping.) They rode the ferris wheel, ate curly fries,  watched a dog show, and had an all-around good time!

Kyle and I were able to go last night and watch the rodeo! I've never been to a rodeo before...it's incredible how comfortable they are on their horses. Also, how much Covid do we think is here among this crowd?

Ganiv and Liz were there too...they're friends from work:)

The Tenth Annual Gillette-Feffer-Prentice Get-Together

Ten Years!! I can't believe we've been getting together every year for an entire decade!! We spent a lot of time looking for a place and ended up finding a house in Tacoma for our annual get-together. We've definitely gotten better at picking out a place to stay...things like enough seats in the kitchen, a dishwasher that actually fits a lot of dishes, and a good outdoor space are important! This house was great! It had 5 bedrooms, lots of games, a big dining room table, a huge backyard, and a pickleball court! Plus, it had an amazing view!

The backyard

So beautiful!

Everyone arrived Thursday afternoon/evening. We settled into the house and had ourselves a great weekend! Our time at the house was filled with pickleball, playing piano, playing games, and of course, eating.

Friday we headed to a nearby park. After playing for a bit on the playground, we checked out the beach. Unfortunately, there was a sewer leak and we couldn't get in the water.
Juggling rocks:)

Saturday we went to Point Defiance Zoo. It was really hot outside so most of the animals were pretty lazy, but we still had a good time. We had to buy tickets for a specific time and you weren't allowed to get in early, so we packed a picnic lunch and played at the playground until it was time to get in.

We had to get around to the other side of the zoo to find the entrance...this was the fastest way!

Everybody headed home Sunday; we had to be out of the house by 11:00 but the Feffer's didn't have to be to the airport until later in the afternoon, so after packing up all of our stuff and saying goodbye to Russ and Jenn, we headed to another park for a little while.

Annaliese and Eleia, trying to dry off a bit!

It's crazy to think that we've been doing this for 10 years. We see each other once a year. We connect sporatically throughout the year. But this trip is always a priority and it is such a blessing to have friends to do this with.
