The End of Another School Year

Annaliese and Haleigh both finished off the school year last week; they both had some fun end-of-the-year activities that Kyle and I were able to partake in.

Haleigh's class had a graduation ceremony/party that included a few songs, a piñata, and of course, food! We've loved having Señora Polinder for preschool for the past few years and will definitely miss her next year! Haleigh has grown so much over the past two years; it's so much fun to hear her use Spanish vocabulary, randomly sing songs in Spanish, or ask how to say something in Spanish! She loved seeing Mallory at school every day and says the best part of school was 'practicing writing my name the right way.'

Annaliese's class wrapped up with a field trip to Pioneer Park, where they were able to tour the historic cabins, and an afternoon playing at Star Park.  Haleigh, Lydia, and I were able to go along for most of the day.

Annaliese brought home a big bag full of papers and projects that they've worked on at school over the past year. It was fun to look at all the things she's worked on! She made it all the way through the 1st grade math book and started on 2nd grade math, learned how to write in cursive, and spent a lot of time writing out Bible verses and explaining what they mean!

May

I found pretty random pictures on my phone from the month of May. There were playdates with cousins, hikes with Dad, a few school activities and some just from our time hanging out at home.

Just like the rest of the year, May seemed to fly by. One of the reasons I like to do these monthly posts is because it makes me look back through my pictures and remember what we did! Between work and all of the end-of-the-school-year things, time just passed by so quickly!

Memorial Weekend

We headed into the long Memorial Weekend with no plans, which was both a bit freeing and also left me thinking that we are kind of boring! So when Saturday morning rolled around and it was chilly, cloudy, and raining, I was a bit grumpy! By mid-morning it was clear we needed to find something to do and get out of the house.

We grabbed rainboots and a few umbrellas and hopped in the car without a clear destination. Our first stop was Blaine, and after walking down the shop-lined streets, we found ourselves at the Pizza Factory for lunch. The girls and I were super excited to get pizza and Kyle settled for the salad bar. The restaurant had an old arcade area so we played a few rounds of air hockey while we waited for our food! We were planning on heading to a local park after lunch, but the traffic was a bit ridiculous, so we turned around and went to Birch Bay State Park instead. We wandered along the beach, looking for crabs and stepping in puddles! By the time we made it back home, everyone was a little wet but in a much better mood!

Sunday was beautiful, so after church we decided to head back up to Birch Bay and go to the park. We packed the bikes, the stroller, and lunch and off we went!

Sunday evening we were invited over to Anderson's house to hang out and roast marshmallows. We haven't seen Jen and Corbin or their kids in way too long so it was so fun to spend some time with them! Plus, it was a gorgeous evening and such a good way to get summer started.

We wrapped up our long weekend with another trip out to Birch Bay on Monday. We met up with Ben, Mallory, Owen, Kim, Thane, Malachi, Elias, and Grandpa and Grandma for lunch at the bay. We flew kites, played Kan-Jam, ate lunch, got some exercise and enjoyed another beautiful day!
