The End of the School Year

The end of school is always filled with all sorts of fun activities, and this year was no exception. On May 31, they all had field day. I signed up to help with one of the stations, but Haleigh forgot to turn in the paper, so instead, I just hung out with the girls' team. They usually put siblings on the same team to make it easier for parent volunteers!

Haleigh and Lydia were both on the blue team, so they eagerly picked out clothes that had blue on them and were excited for all the fun! There are 10 different stations that the kids rotate through, with activities like creating a marble run, water balloon toss, rubber chicken launching, 3-legged races, capture the flag, and trio soccer.

Annaliese ran the 200m dash, did 'soccer accuracy,' and two other activities. They didn't ask for parent volunteers in the middle school, and I didn't walk over to see if I could watch anything. But she came with a ribbon and said it was fun.

On June 1st, I took Haleigh and Lydia to the Farmer's Day Parade in Lynden. (Annaliese had a soccer game at the same time, so she and Kyle went to her game while we were at the parade.)

On Sunday, June 2, we met up with everyone from Haleigh's class for an end-of-the-year party. Everyone was able to make it and I took no pictures. The kids played in the bounce house the whole time. Parents played ping pong and ate delicious food. Everyone had fun!

Next, we decided to check out the circus. The Jordan World Circus was at the fairgrounds on Tuesday and it sounded like fun. We had a great time! We saw buffalo, camels, and elephants. There was hula-hooping, aerial yoga, and even ladies hanging by their hair! We were entertained the whole time and I'm so glad we were able to check it out!

There's a motorcycle in there (there were supposed to be two, but one of them had a flat tire)

And with all that, we made it to Thursday and the last day of school! Lydia had a class party on Wednesday but I didn't get to go. Haleigh's class had a party and graduation ceremony on Thursday morning. They played charades, ate donuts, and shared their favorite memories of 4th grade.

I found this in Haleigh's backpack...I thought it was a fun memory!

Spring Soccer

We contemplated whether or not to do soccer this spring, but in the end, we decided to go for it. I signed Annaliese up for Lynden Action, but they didn't have enough girls to make a team. We were given the option to join the middle school co-ed team and she wanted to give it a try. There were 23 kids on her team, with only 4 of them being girls!

Overall, it was a good experience and Annaliese had a lot of fun. Her team lost all of their games but I think she learned about the importance of being aggressive and challenging the ball.

We had one very cold rainy Saturday but mostly we lucked out and had beautiful weather!

Very wet and cold!

We wrapped up the season with a 3-v-3 soccer tournament. She was on a team with Esme, Emma, Katherine, Megan, and Emory. The rules for 3-v-3 are very different and all the girls seemed to have a hard time adjusting to them, but they figured it out in time to win their last game! It was a perfect day for soccer and Annaliese had a great time hanging out with her friends.
